Everyone has a favorite colour, whether we acknowledge it or not. Some have several colours and some prefer no colour, but whichever way you go, colour plays a part in our lives.
It will come as no shock to anyone that knows me to hear that I LOVE bright emerald green. Green of any shade immediately draws me in. I love pale jade green and intense citrus lime green. Dark rich moody forest green and the palest misty green works really well too.
My logo is green. The walls and door at the Atelier are several shades of the same intense green. I have to stop myself buying green stones when I’m stone shopping and frankly that’s why there is green in every collection!
I like and wear other colours. I live in a yellow living and dining room. I own several pairs of red sneakers and my closet has a fair amount of different colours. But if I want to feel really happy, I slip into one of several pairs of green loafers!
I know of other people that react to one colour over another. My husband loves blue. If you look at his closet he owns a lot of blue shirts. Actually, mostly blue shirts! A lovely friend out West wears pink almost exclusively. It suits her so well and has become her signature colour. There are some who claim that they don’t wear colour. But even though black is a tone and not a colour, if that’s all you wear then I say it’s your favorite colour!
I’d love to know why we react to one colour over another. What in our psychology helps us to decide subconsciously why a particular colour is important? If someone ever figured that out, imagine the marketing possibilities? Until that day, Kermit the Frog’s song, “It’s Not Easy Being Green,” will remain my theme song.
