Alan is a huge fan of Cartier’s emblematic Tutti Frutti gemstone jewellery which was enormously popular in the 1920s. Streamlined design, rich gemstone hues and settings the colour of platinum are the earmarks of Tutti Frutti jewellery. It is still enormously popular today with vintage pieces running into the millions at auction. For those of us who adore the look and would rather not spend a million, Alan has created some beautiful Tutti Frutti pieces with all the signature gemstone colours and faux platinum settings. Designed in the Tutti Frutti style this brooch is in the shape of a shield which also brings to mind some of the great royal jewels dating to the 1930s. Again we are fortunate that we have vintage crystals on hand and can duplicate the Tutti Frutti palette. Of special interest are the two large unfoiled montana blue pear stones made in the 1950s. Though this brooch is large and has a pendant it shouldn’t be limited to evening wear. We like it on long jackets and scarves.
