Over the last seventeen months (yes that’s not a typo) we have learned how important personal happiness is. Whether it’s missing socializing, or dinners out, or wearing real clothes and not just track pants!
For pet lovers and owners, the daily routine of walks and cuddles, and thinking about their needs takes you away from your own problems for a little while.
As most people know, we lost my constant shadow Madison, our chocolate lab, over a year ago. It made the last year even worse as we weren’t going out for walks. As always I was grateful for The Atelier as I could immerse myself in work.
Well, our world was rocked twelve weeks ago when we brought home baby Lilly. Lilly is now an almost five-month-old chocolate lab puppy.
Instantly we are not worrying about the world around us! Instead, we get tiny amounts of sleep between potty trips out! It’s amazing how watching a puppy play and learn is better than television! It’s been great to get out on walks again- even if it is 10 times a day.
A puppy is a challenge, and Miss Lilly is living up to that! We’ve puppy-proofed and moved anything we think she can chew/investigate, or so we think until she discovers something or grabs something I’d not thought about. We are sleep deprived-did I mention that? I might have but don’t remember as I’m sleep-deprived!
Other than puppy snuggles, the best thing is turning off the outside world, and realizing that this amazing, slightly hyperactive little bundle of fur needs you so much, but you also realize how much you need them. The big question is, “who adopted who?”
